As the temperatures drop, dry skin is on the rise. Cold, dry winter air can strip your skin of its natural oils, causing your skin to flake and itch. Unfortunately, our indoor air doesn’t help because our heaters also dry out the air in our homes. While you can’t control the air outside your home, you can change the air inside your home by adding more humidity with a humidifier.
Humidifiers help increase indoor humidity levels by releasing water vapor into the air. Adding a humidifier to your skincare routine helps keep your skin healthy by keeping your skin hydrated. Just like drinking water hydrates your body, healthy humidity in your air hydrates your skin.
Put your humidifier in the room you’re in most – this is usually your living room or your bedroom. Humidifiers can bring your humidity up fastest in smaller rooms, but make sure the humidifier you choose is rated for the area you want to cover. You can add single-room humidifiers to each room of your house, or choose a whole house humidifier to cover your entire home.
Many of our customers prefer to have a smaller humidifier in their bedroom, either as a solo unit or to supplement a whole-house humidifier. Your humidifier does not need to be right next to you as you sleep. As the humidifier puts out moisture, the humidity will spread throughout your room. But you can shut your bedroom door to better contain the humidity in your room if you want.
Within a day or two, you should see healthier skin with less flaking, itching, and dryness. Your humidifier will also help relieve other winter woes like dry hair, chapped lips, and static electricity in your clothing. Even your pets’ itchy winter skin will benefit from a healthy dose of humidity!
Any of our small, ultrasonic units are perfect for bedrooms. You can also use essential oils with these models – just add a little lavender oil for a soothing slumber. Our NOVA model has a night mode that turns off all of the display lights while you sleep but keeps your unit running. The NOVA also has a fantastic multicolored nightlight, which we love.
